If you’re into making videos for your business, you should know how to look great in them.

Today, I’m going to show you the easiest trick on how to look awesome on camera and the three ways you can do it.

The problem with laptops

If you’re using a laptop right now, you’re most likely looking down at the screen. (Don’t deny it!)

And this is a problem when you use it to create videos – the built-in camera is below your eye level, which is not the most flattering angle for anyone.

So what’s the solution?

Raise your camera!

Raise your camera up to eye-level. This way, your audience won’t be looking up the inside of your nose.

There are three simple ways to do this:

  1. The Tower of Britannica. Find old encyclopedia books and pile them up until your laptop camera is at eye level. Or it could be old college books – whatever books, as long as they’re thick and all at the same size.
  2. The Bar Chair. If you don’t have anything you can use to raise your camera, you can lower your chair.
  3. My Favorite Solution. I’ve been searching for the right laptop stand for a couple of years now and I finally found one I’m happy with – the laptop tray that mounts to a microphone stand.

So there you go – three easy ways on how to raise your camera and look great on video. I hope you remember these the next time you hit that record button!
