Best Teleprompter App for iPad – PromptSmart

Teleprompters are great for reading your script without looking like you’re reading your script. Teleprompters are actually affordable now because of the iPad, but it won’t work unless you have a teleprompter app.

In this video, I’m going to talk about an app called PromptSmart, its features, and why I consider it the best teleprompter app for iPad.

You can find two versions of PromptSmart on the App Store. The first one is a Lite, free version and the second one is the Pro version that you can access for $15. The cheaper way to go is to upgrade to Pro from the Lite version, which will only cost you $10. You can pay an additional $2/month if you want to get additional features, which I honestly think are not that important.

  5. When you’re done, click Save.
Finding the Perfect Script Settings.

After saving your script, click the cog icon at the bottom to access the settings. Inside the script settings, you’ll find a long list of options. Here are a few of the important ones.

  • Voice Track is a feature that allows your script to move forward. It will listen to your voice and move the script forward as you speak the words.
  • You can choose to use the pre-set scroll speeds or manual scroll. When I’ve found the perfect speed, I usually just use the pre-set speed.
  • If you’re just looking directly at your iPad or iPhone, you would want the mirroring off because you’re reading directly from the screen. But if you’re using teleprompter hardware like Caddie Buddy, you have to turn mirroring on. For more on how Caddie Buddy works, click this link.
  • You can also turn on the guide if you want something to help you keep track of where you are on the script, and the timer if you want to stay on time.

Once you have the settings you want, hit Back and push the Play button when you’re ready. It will start the Voice Track, which will require you to be quiet before speaking the lines.

As you’re reading, depending on the length of the script, you will see it scroll up. You can also use your finger to move the script up or down, if you get a little bit off-track.

PromptSmart is the best teleprompter for iPad, IMO. I have more videos about it on my YouTube channel, which you can access right here.
