Have you been scratching your head, trying to figure out how to add video to Squarespace?

There’s an easy way and a better way – and I’m going to show you how to do both.

How to add video to Squarespace

The Easy Way

  1. Head over to YouTube and find a video you want to embed.
  2. Copy the video URL.
  3. Go to your Squarespace website and create a post.
  4. Add a video block. Click the black bubble where you want to insert the video and choose Video.
  5. Paste the URL in the Video URL field and click Apply.
  6. Save and Publish.

What’s not so great about this method is when you reach the end of the video, you’re going to see a bunch of suggested videos. You wouldn’t want to other people’s content on website, right?

Here’s how you can fix that.

The Better Way

  1. Head over to YouTube and find a video you want to embed.
  2. Under the video, click Share, then Embed. Below the embed code you’ll see a preview of the video, Video size and some check boxes.
  3. IMPORTANT: Uncheck ‘Show suggested videos when the video finishes’.
  4. Copy the embed code. It’s the one that starts with <iframe width…>
  5. Go to your Squarespace website and create a post.
  6. Add a video block. Click the black bubble where you want to insert the video and choose Video.
  7. Click the </> icon beside the Video URL field.
  8. The Embed Data window will pop up. Paste the embed code in the text field. Click Set.
  9. Click Apply.
  10. Save and Publish.

Now if you click all the way to the end of the video, it shows you the video thumbnail instead.

So are you going the easy way, or the better way? (Always choose the better way!)
